The Los Angeles Rams took a significant step back in 2022 after winning their first Super Bowl in more than two decades.
Much of this centered on the numerous notable injuries headlined by star quarterback Matthew Stafford missing the last two months of the regular season.
Despite all that, the 35-year-old has voiced that he feels refreshed as the team begins moving through offseason workouts.
“I’m not 25, but I definitely feel good,” said Stafford via ESPN.
Stafford added that his ability to throw without any limitation has put him in the right mind frame.
“And that puts me in a good mood, gets me excited to be here, and kind of helps me make sure that my attitude, my energy level, is at the correct place every single time I come in here,” Stafford said. “And I feel like it’s there right now.”
The Rams will lean on Stafford significantly to lead the team forward in the 2023 season. Los Angeles saw several key players depart in free agency and through contract buyouts.
Stafford took a step back in 2022 due to lingering issues with his throwing elbow that began last offseason. With a clean bill of health, he will have the opportunity to get back on track, especially with Super Bowl 56 MVP Cooper Kupp back in the fold.

Los Angeles will have stiff competition to get back atop the NFC West after the San Francisco 49ers took a significant step forward last season. The expectations may not be where it once was around the organization, but the Rams can use that as extra motivation to get back toward Super Bowl contention.
