The Green Bay Packers are entering another offseason headlined with questions concerning star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ NFL future.
Much of which centers around Rodgers’ contract situation as his three-year, $150.8 million contract extension nears its start in 2024. The deal has holds $59.4 million guaranteed if he plays next season and carries a $31.6 million salary-cap charge.
During his weekly interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers voiced that he’s open to reworking his deal to help elevate some of the financial burden it has on the Packers.
“There’s a lot of teams, because of COVID, that are strapped, and you’re seeing with a lot of different contracts, they’re pushing more money out in deals,” Rodgers said on the show via ESPN. “They’re creating void years to allow for an easier cap hit, so there would have to be some adjustments, for sure.”
If Rodgers and the Packers were able to lower the salary-cap hit, it may open the door to possible roster moves. More importantly, it could see Green Bay explore realistic trade scenarios for the star quarterback if moving on is what both sides is deemed what is best.

Reports have emerged that the Packers will explore trade options from AFC teams only while demanding at least two first-round picks. Several teams, such as the Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots, and New York Jets, could emerge as potential landing spots.
However, this will first depend on whether Rodgers wants to play his 19th season.
“All the other ideas about [a] trade and whatnot, that’s all conjecture until I decide what I want to do moving forward for myself,” Rodgers said.
Time will tell what lies ahead in Green Bay.
