Kyler Murray ‘hopeful’ Cardinals commit to him long-term
By Ryan Ward
Over the last few weeks, the Arizona Cardinals have been engulfed in speculation around star quarterback Kyler Murray’s long-term.
Murray sparked the chatter after removing any association with the Cardinals on his social media platforms. He didn’t clarify the situation, letting the discussion float toward some possible uncertainty regarding his future in Arizona.
Much of which centers on possible demands for a new deal despite him only finishing the third year of his rookie contract. Murray is coming off leading the Cardinals to their first playoff appearance in six years.
However, the star quarterback broke his silence with a social media post through his agent Erik Burkhardt. The statement read that Murray “absolutely” wants to be the Cardinals’ long-term answer under center while airing his desire to win a Super Bowl with the franchise.
Meanwhile, Burkhardt voiced that his client hopes to work out a long-term extension with the franchise.
“Kyler remains hopeful that the organization choses to commit so that he can continue leading the Cardinals to further success and value for many years to come,” Burkhardt wrote via Yahoo Sports.
The ball is now in the Cardinals’ court to work out a new contract with Murray. The Oklahoma product has proven that he’s one of the league’s top young quarterbacks.
