After an NFL offseason filled with bitter comments back and forth between the New York Jets and Denver Broncos, the time has come for these two teams to go head-to-head during the regular season, with both teams heading into Week 5 desperately needing a win to salvage their season.
Before heading into the 2023 NFL season, the Broncos and Jets were considered to be potential heavyweights in the AFC, with Sean Payton looking to turn things around for Denver while Aaron Rodgers wanted to right the ship for New York.
Unfortunately, things haven’t gone well for either team up to this point in the season, with the Jets losing Rodgers to a season-ending injury right out of the gate and Denver being in contention for being the worst team in the league after four games.
Apparently, the Jets are more motivated than ever to get some redemption for Nathaniel Hackett via ESPN.
The feeling among Hackett’s players is different. Center Connor McGovern believes Hackett was unfairly criticized by Payton, who told USA Today in late July that Hackett’s 15-game tenure last season was “one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL.” McGovern said they’d love for Hackett to get “payback” at Empower Field, where the two 1-3 teams meet.
As for the Broncos, Payton and company will try to make it two wins in a row after barely getting the best of the Chicago Bears last week, 31-28.

Denver’s season has been marred by the historic beatdown by the Miami Dolphins, in which Tua Tagovailoa and company dropped 70 points on Payton’s squad. Obviously, Payton wants to put that loss behind him while proving he was right about Hackett this week.
