Amid the numerous off-the-court issues around Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant, the franchise has increased his absence to at least the next four games.
Morant has already missed two contests after he streamed a video on his Instagram live showing him holding a gun in a strip club after last Friday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Since then, the Glendale police in Colorado have conducted an investigation, but there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him with a crime.
“GPD was not able to determine that probable cause existed for the filing of any charges,” the news release stated, in part via ESPN. “In this case, it should be noted that on the night in question the GPD did not receive any calls for service at the nightclub regarding a weapon of any type. Subsequently, no disturbances were reported, and no citizens or patrons of the club came forward to make a complaint. The investigation also concluded that no one was threatened or menaced with the firearm and in fact no firearm was ever located.”
Morant is likely facing an extended absence that may see him miss the rest of the season to focus on straightening his life off the court. He has been involved in a few notable concerning incidents that have put him in the limelight.

Morant had issued a statement stating that he would take time away to work on his life away from basketball.
“I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire organization for letting you down,” the statement read. “I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”
