The Dallas Cowboys head into another offseason with the focus centered around quarterback Dak Prescott.
After the Cowboys failed to compete for the Super Bowl, it has raised more questions about whether Prescott can lead the franchise to that ultimate goal. Despite the lingering outside doubt, team executive vice president Jerry Jones voiced that he has strong faith in the 29-year-old.
“Because we know him. We know what he’s about. His leadership skills are undeniable. Impeccable work ethic,” Jones said via ESPN. “Other than he hadn’t won some key playoff games, he’s everything you want in a quarterback. From the day he walked in the door, he’s won a lot of games. We just got to get over the hump.”
The Cowboys haven’t reached the Super Bowl in nearly three decades, which has only been further underlined by the recent playoff shortcomings. All that has put more scrutiny on Prescott in regards to whether he is the answer under center the franchise needs to win a championship.
Beyond that, Prescott’s long-term future in Dallas has become a lingering question as he’s entering the third year of his four-year $160 million contract. He is set to be $49.2 million against the salary cap for the 2023 season.

The Cowboys can restructure his deal that could create $22 million in salary cap space, which could become an even bigger number if they extend him past his current contract.
There is plenty on the table for Dallas to work through over the coming months that will dictate how the next several years will unfold.
