The Green Bay Packers suffered a disappointing Week 6 loss to the New York Jets that pushed them to the .500 mark.
The disappointing defeat featured more of the same, with the Packers’ offense stumbling to produce consistent stable production. Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled to put forth a strong outing at home against the Jets, completing 26-of-41 passes for 241 yards with a touchdown pass.
After the contest, Rodgers voiced that the Packers need to simplify the offense.
“I’m not attacking anything,” Rodgers said via ESPN. “I just think that based on how we’ve played the last two weeks, I think it’s going to be in our best interests to simplify things for everybody — for the line, for the backs, for the receivers, especially with [Randall Cobb’s] injury. Just simplify some things, and maybe that’ll help us get back on track.”
Green Bay hasn’t looked like a formidable group offensively despite possessing one of the game’s top quarterbacks. The loss of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling has put more pressure on the Packers’ unproven receiving core behind Allen Lazard to play prominent roles.
All that has resulted in the team ranking 18th in passing, 13th in rushing, and 24th with 17.8 points per contest. The Packers have shown to be anything but Super Bowl contenders.

Rodgers hasn’t produced standout numbers, ranking 13th with 1,403 passing yards, tied for eighth with nine touchdown passes, and 24th with a 38.5 passer rating. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings hold the top spot in the NFC North behind a 5-1 record.
Although the Packers have struggled, there is plenty of time left for them to push their way toward the division title and more much than that.
