The 2023 NBA All-Star Game is edging closer where it will feature many of the game’s best players.
However, it appears that Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid might not be among those playing in the contest. Embiid voiced after Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers that he may not be healthy enough to play.
“I’m not sure,” the 76ers star said after collecting 29 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and a block in 39 minutes against Cleveland via ESPN. “I’m not healthy. I haven’t been healthy for the past three weeks, or month. I was just trying to get to the All-Star break without missing games and stuff. But I feel like I’ve reached the point where I need to follow the doctor’s advice. … Back then he said I should have been sitting for two weeks, so we’ll see how the next few days go, and go from there.”
Throughout Embiid’s career, he’s struggled to stay healthy over the course of an entire season. He has been dealing with left foot soreness that nearly kept him off the floor against the Cavaliers.

Embiid has had issues with that injury for the last couple of weeks, but he’s managed to play in those games after testing it out in his pregame workout. It is likely that will play in significantly limited minutes in Sunday’s All-Star game to keep him from suffering any setbacks.
If the 76ers hope to contend for an NBA title, Embiid must be healthy leading the charge next to James Harden.
