The Dallas Cowboys are cruising after the first two games of the 2023 NFL season, with America’s Team sporting a perfect 2-0 record and arguably the best defense in the league. Linebacker Micah Parsons has this defense playing at an elite level, while Dak Prescott has been getting it done offensively to win games.
Unfortunately, the defense took a big loss this week, with All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs suffering a season-ending knee injury in practice earlier this week.

On Friday, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy shared his reaction to losing his best corner for the season via Todd Archer of ESPN.
“Obviously you feel sick [for] him,” McCarthy said Friday on a conference call. “It’s definitely a punch to the gut for our football team, but this is an opportunity for our defensive depth to stand up and continue to move forward.”
Although the Cowboys won’t have Diggs patrolling the secondary for the rest of the 2023 campaign, McCarthy appears to be confident in DaRon Bland moving forward.
“Very confident in DaRon,” McCarthy said. “If you look at his history here, whether it was to start on special teams or the opportunity to play in the nickel, the opportunity to play outside, he’s always stepped up and played. He’s very, very professional for a young player. This is another opportunity and he’ll take the challenge.”
Only time will tell how much of an impact the loss of Diggs will be on Dallas, but in the meantime, the team is clicking and hoping for a deep run in the postseason.
