San Francisco 49ers center Alex Mack has announced his retirement from football after 13 seasons in the NFL.
The announcement follows his one and only season playing in San Francisco. Alex Mack was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2009.
In seven seasons with Cleveland, he earned three Pro Bowl selections and one second-team All-Pro.
Alex Mack earned an additional three Pro Bowls and two second team All-Pros in five years with the Atlanta Falcons.

“After 13 seasons and 204 games for 3 teams, I have decided to hang up my cleats,” Mack wrote on Twitter. “I am so grateful to the game of football and everything it has given me. From the very start it helped shape who I am and taught me life lessons. I started to play football because it was fun and that never changed…
“I always tried to hold up my end of the bargain and never let anyone doubt my effort.”
The 36-year-old earned his final Pro Bowl appearance last season, speaking to his longevity.
